An Exercise in Lip Service

Those that attended the meeting last Wednesday at SHDC offices will attest that it was very frustrating: the council voted to pass the planning applications back to LCC with no objections, subject to a few recommendations. Despite some excellent points made by our SPARR representatives, and some good questions asked by some of the councillors, this seemed more like a rubber-stamping exercise than a genuine discussion: https://lincolnshirereporter.co.uk/2019/05/fears-of-10-years-of-crippling-traffic-if-spalding-bypass-phases-approved/
We remain undeterred in our quest for a re-think of the entire road. Whilst the relief road will not be discussed at the next LCC Highways and Transport Scrutiny Committee on 10th June, it will be discussed some time in July (date TBC), where we will be aiming to attend and set up a protest. Details to follow.
In the meantime, here are some suggestions that you, as an individual, can carry out to keep the momentum going: sign the e-petition supporting our Bourne Rd residents, continue writing to your local politicians and councillors of LCC, increase SPARR's visibility by displaying a poster in your window or a banner in your garden, and, if you haven't already done so, object to the North and South sections of the road. You can find all the information for the above in the "Get Involved" section of our website.
As always, thank you SO much for your continued support, for your individual efforts, and for keeping the pressure on!
